Benefit Corporation
Since 2022, Fornovo Gas has been a Benefit Corporation, a choice that commits the company to pursue ambitious environmental, social and governance sustainability goals.
With this operation, we have given continuity to the vocation that has always guided our behaviour towards people, the environment, customers and the community reinforcing and structuring it.
Now, with the adoption of the Benefit Corporation model, we will integrate actions to achieve business objectives with our ethical vision of environment, society and people even better.
Sustainability Report
Carbon Footprint
The Carbon Footprint represents the total greenhouse gas emissions generated by a company’s activities. Reducing the carbon footprint means actively contributing to the fight against climate change by limiting the environmental impact of one’s actions.
Our Commitment to Emission Reduction
Fornovo Gas has embarked on an ambitious journey to reduce its Carbon Footprint. In 2024, we achieved outstanding results, reducing our net CO₂eq emissions by over 60% compared to 2023. This was made possible by a series of targeted initiatives:
- Photovoltaic System
- Support for Sustainable Forest Management: We chose to support a Sustainable Forest Management project in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, actively contributing to environmental protection. We received certified sustainability credits, allowing us to offset 150 tons of CO₂, further reducing our environmental impact.
Our Result in 2024
Thanks to these actions, our direct emissions dropped from 135 tons of CO₂eq in 2023 to 103 tons in 2024. Our net emissions decreased to 126 tons, compared to 312 tons in the previous year.
This represents a 60% reduction!
Fornovo Gas: A Sustainable Future
As a Benefit Society, our mission is to drive change towards a greener future through concrete actions that protect the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
FORNOVO GAS DONATES AN ELECTRIC GENERATOR TO THE ITALIAN RED CROSS

Fornovo Gas donated an electric generator to the Italian Red Cross to help people in emergency situations.
The device, which weighs almost 6 tonnes, delivers a power output of 250 kW, enough to satisfy the electricity needs of thousands of people. This makes it particularly suitable for dealing with emergencies and in hospitals or healthcare facilities.
The generator is currently operating at the Centro Polifunzionale Teobaldo Fenoglio, a facility managed by the Italian Red Cross that hosts reception projects for asylum seekers and an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
The average stay of people in the centre is about one and a half months.
A doctor is present at the centre and the Italian Red Cross addresses the guests towards local social-health services dealing with bureaucratic aspects related to registration with the Health Board and providing interpreters and legal advice.
A special health and psychosocial plan was set up for families with significant health vulnerabilities.
The people involved were invited to attend a HACCP course allowing them to carry out activities in the canteen of the centre. Children attend local schools.
The generator was made available to the Teobaldo Fenoglio Multifunctional Centre as a whole for the benefit of refugees and asylum seekers and the activities promoted by the COE (Operative Emergency Centre) of Settimo Torinese. Currently, the power generator has been included in a more general redevelopment programme of the Centre.
In October 2022, Fornovo Gas changed its articles of association to become a Benefit Corporation, i.e. a company that operates responsibly and sustainably but that is also committed to creating benefits and opportunities externally, and the collaboration with the Italian Red Cross is the first result of this choice.
environment
Our history and our present testify to our daily intense commitment to the environment.
METHANE: CLEAN ENERGY
Driven by research in Design & Engineering Excellence, at Fornovo Gas we develop top quality compressors dedicated to natural gas, the fossil fuel with the lowest impact on the environment. Compared to traditional fuels, natural gas ensures fewer pollutant emissions and offers a higher energy yield.
The energy transition is a complex and long-lasting process. Natural gas is one of the alternative solutions to contain the heavy environmental impact otherwise generated by other fossil energy resources.
BIOMETHANE: GREEN ENERGY
Through the development of high-quality technology, at Fornovo Gas we support Green Energy Excellence because biomethane is an inexhaustible and ecologically sustainable energy source.
Biomethane is obtained from the valorisation of products and by-products from the agricultural and agro-industrial supply chain.
Its production process has two main stages:
- The production of raw biogas.
- Subsequent purification from polluting compounds and gases, first and foremost carbon dioxide. This is called upgrading.
In addition to being renewable, biomethane is a programmable energy source, i.e. it can be produced in relation to greater or lesser market demand.
Furthermore, biomethane has a positive impact on the agri-food sector because it encourages sustainability and continuity in the use of resources. For some time now, Fornovo Gas has been investing in the concept of circular economy.
HYDROGEN: THE FUTURE
The use of hydrogen is one of the most advanced solutions to manage the energy transition. It is the perspective on which the dizzying growth of interest in hydrogen is based, which, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), can make an important contribution to “help tackle various critical energy challenges”.
Fornovo Gas contributes to the affirmation of hydrogen with the development and production of its hydrogen reciprocating compressors that guarantee high performance by ensuring maximum hydrogen purity by adopting a double Distance Piece cylinder architecture.
This solution requires no lubrication and eliminates any potential contamination of the process gas.
